Tentative Schedule and…

I’ve posted this seasons tentative schedule (dates may be changed by the end of this month)

Also…. We have our first SATURDAY Drift session.

Saturday, February 25th

Cheers.

Haloween Recap

Halloween practice turned out to be a Halloween bash. Nearly all the drivers came out in costume, though most of the costumes came off towards the end of the day.

Here is Joshua Whitehead (Last Season’s Champion) getting a crotch full of pumpkin debris via Nick Oldford. I would highly recommend no one ever attempt this ever.

Best costume of the day would have to be Jason Debruyn who went as Cole Chalmers, from the internet (drifted.com)

Halloween Fun!

I hope everyone is ready for the upcoming Oct 16th practice, should be a pumpkin smashing time!
The list is nearly full and I see a bunch of newcomers that are coming out for the first time. Just want to remind everyone that is going into the pits that there will be a 10$ surcharge for everyone who is not wearing a costume! Spectating is free or by donation!
Driving, 60$, 70$ Drop in

Costumes are mandatory for the pits
10$ No costume surcharge
Bring a pumpkin, carve before or at track (may be accepted instead of costume)

To guarantee a spot, pay in advance. Registering is not a guarantee. Registrations past October 12th will be considered drop ins.

Also, check out the article by Wes Lord in the Nexus. The paper is located at either Camosun campus!

Series Finale

If you weren’t there then you missed quite  a show! Near death, two series ties in points and 8 car drift trains. This was an all day event, drifting started at roughly 9am and finished at 9pm. We had 37 cars. A BMW driven by a newcomer met its end, as did Jordan Peliter’s 240sx with an unfortunate wall vs car challenge. Dan “The Crab” Courmier decided he needed another addition to his crab family. Unfortunately, Dug Willis wasn’t as receiving as he had hoped. A corolla may have died, but a crab was born.

The day ended with Joshua Whitehead taking 3rd, Chris Scremin taking 2nd and Myles Mayland returning to the track with his newly finished car to take 1st.

The series ended with a tie for 3rd between Pete Schroeder and Chris Scremin. Chris Scremin ended up taking third place leaving an epic battle between Cody Ross and Joshua Whitehead for 1st place. Cody and Josh have been neck and neck all season and both of them had been waiting for today to see who would take the win in series points. In the end, Joshua Whitehead ended up taking first place in a head to head battle with Cody Ross.

Overall this was our biggest and best event. I’d like to personally thank Matt Tregear for his quick reflexes, Adrian Smith and Darryl Downey for their vocals, Corey Bergerud, Quinn Howling and Chris Vriend for their Judging. I would like to also thank Cole Chambers,  Sean Nesbit, Conor Orcherton, Acacia Spencer-Hills and all other volunteers that helped make this event possible.

I’d like to point out that Adam Detlor, after being with us for  nearly 2 years, is leaving to pursue his career. Without his help Capital Drift would not be where it is today and everyone in the community would like to wish him the best and luck for his new ventures.  Thanks Adam, I’m sure we’ll see you again soon :)

July 8th!

Another successful event! No problems in the parking lot this time so that was a relief! I would like to remind all spectators and drivers to not speed or do burnouts/drift in the parking lot during out events!

1st – Joshua Whitehead, Victoria Local!
2nd –Pete Schroder of Neptdune D.
3rd – Matt Treger, veteran drifter recently back to the scene!

In 4th place came Warren Foster. This is warrens first time reaching the Top 4! Congratulations!

I would like to thank all the staff and volunteers made this the most organised Capital City Drift event to date! Special thanks to Darryl Downey of Bentmafk,  Quinn Howling of SpeedHero, Colby Adrian.

Our Final Even is coming up August 1st! Be sure to come and bring all your friends and see the all day event featuring Westerns Canada’s best amateur drifters!

Doors open at 10am, top 16 starts at 6pm! Admission is only 10$

Final Warning

We have been given our final warning in regards to excessive noise, burnouts and “drifting” that takes place in the parking lot.

If we receive another complaint during our next event, Friday July 8th, then drifting shall no longer be held at Western Speedway.

This is a reminder to all drivers and spectators. Please, PLEASE refrain from doing ANYTHING on or around Western Speedway. If you enjoy drifting at all on Vancouver Island then remind yourself and others around you to leave the parking lot and the area in a civilized manor.

May 23rd, Biggest Event Yet!!!

I was blown away by the turnout! We had 34 registered cars and nearly 200+ spectators, not including the 60+ people in the pits.

1st – Cody Ross, once again!
2nd – Chris Scremin
3rd – Pete Schroder of Neptdune D.

In 4th place came Nick Oldford who only just finished his car just in time for this event.

I would like to thank all the staff and volunteers made this the biggest Capital City Drift event to date! Special thanks to Acacia Spencer-Hills, Darryl Downey of Bentmafk, Adrian Smith, Ben Rittenhouse, Quinn Howling of SpeedHero and Dave Labossiere.

Friday April 22 event, best one yet?

On Friday May 22nd our first event was held with great success!

1st – Cody Ross
2nd – Trevor Pudar
3rd – Josh Whitehead, won by footrace.

I’d also like to mention Pete Schroeder, winner of the burnout contest and who also came in fourth due to blowing a rad hose during the burnout contest. I’d also like to thank: Colby, Connor, Eric, Warren, Nick, Jay, Quinn, Albert and everyone else who volunteered and helped out to make this event the smoothest run out of them all.

Special thanks to Acacia Spencer-Hills, Darryl Downey of Bentmafk. Without their help this event would have surely been a lot more chaotic.
